Dry Cell Batteries Or Non-Spillable Batteries
In order to prevent damage to the aircraft and to ensure flight safety, power driven wheelchairs with these batteries are accepted for transportation, provided that the following procedures are complied with, according to the type of batteries in use.
Wet Batteries (Spillable)
In principle, wet batteries are not accepted for transportation. Special request may be considered and its acceptance is subject to prior authorization from the LAM Safety Department.
Non-Spillable Batteries
The battery must be disconnected and the terminals insulated to prevent accidental short circuits. Ensure that battery is securely attached to the wheelchair. When it is uncertain whether battery is non-spillable or not, the same procedures as for wet batteries must be applied.
