General
Pregnant passengers shall not be considered as incapacitated, but some specific procedures must still be followed. The transportation of pregnant passengers is not allowed within seven days before or the seven days after birth. Newly born children are not accepted to fly with LAM until they are three weeks of age, and provided that they are escorted.
Procedures
Pregnancy under 28 weeks
Such pregnant passengers will be accepted without any formality if the pregnancy is normal and free of any problems or complications that could be reasonably predicted.
Exception:
- Birth date has been set as 4 weeks premature;
- Pregnancy's duration or birth date is unknown;
- A multiple pregnancy has occurred;
- Birth time complications are expected.
Pregnancy after 28 weeks and up to 7 days before Birth Date
These pregnant passengers will be accepted under the following conditions:
- Presentation of a doctor's certificate - INDICAP PART 2, issued with four copies and within the 7 days prior to the departure date;
- The "Liability Declaration" - INCAD PART 1 is duly signed by passenger;
- Passenger must be accompanied by a doctor or qualified nurse;
- Seat allocation is decided by passenger, with the exception of the emergency rows.
For safety reasons, pregnant women with more than 20 weeks of pregnancy are not accept with an infant, unless the infant is escorted by another adult passenger.
