Wheelchairs

Dry batteries or not Subject to Leaking

To prevent damage to the airplane and to ensure flight safety and passenger, the electric wheelchairs that utilize this type of battery will be accepted for transportation, provided that the procedures that follow are respected, according to the type of battery used.

Liquid Electrolyte Batteries (Subject to Leaking)

Batteries containing liquid electrolytes are not accepted for transportation, however there can be exceptions, as long as their acceptance is subject to the prior authorization of the LAM Security Department.

Batteries Not Subject to Leaking

The battery must be disconnected and terminals should be isolated to avoid short circuits. Make sure the battery is securely attached to the wheelchair. When you are not sure whether it is a battery that is subject to leaking or not, the same procedures for the liquid electrolyte batteries should be applied.
